Bank holiday Monday saw Thame locals rally together for a day of football fun raising money for The Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA).
Face painting, burgers, hot dogs, more than 500 cakes and plenty of tea and coffee was on hand for supporters of the two football teams competing in the central attraction on the day. In red and yellow we had the team comprising of local dads and teachers, including our very own Stuart Barr, who donned his best boots and fancy footwork again for this very special of occasions. In blue we had ‘Iron Maiden’ a squad created by band member Steve Harris who also lives locally.
The event was crammed full of bank holiday revellers and managed to raise a staggering £7000!
Activities also included zorb football, sumo suits, balloon artistry, face painting, beat the goalie, raffle including a grand prize of a holiday in Mallorca, and much more. Beat the goalie was particularly popular at half time, with the local children giving it their best shot. Despite the weather trying it’s hardest to dampen spirits, the atmosphere prevailed and the sun came out just in time!
This isn’t the first time the town has helped his family raise funds and awareness for the charity, more than £30,000 for TVAA has already been donated.
Monday was a wonderful event and reminder of the importance of the vital service the TVAA offer this and many other communities, the Barr Group feel honoured to have been involved.
